LSU defeated No. 9 Virginia Tech 82-64 on Thursday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers were led by freshman Mikaylah Williams, who scored 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including one 3-pointer. Williams also had six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Angel Reese, who returned to the team after a four-game absence, also had a strong game, scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Aneesah Morrow had 19 points and 15 rebounds. Flau’jae Johnson scored 13 points.

The win was LSU's eighth in a row, and it extended the Tigers' home winning streak to 24 games. Virginia Tech fell to 5-2.

The game was also significant for LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, who picked up her 700th career victory. Mulkey is the quickest coach in women's or men's Division I basketball history to reach 700 wins.

"These victories are special to me, but my impact on these girls is the most important," Mulkey said after the game. "All in all, reaching 700 victories is nice, but I am most proud of my basketball team and where they have come."

Williams' performance was particularly impressive. She scored 11 points in the second quarter and 10 points in the third quarter to help LSU build a lead. Williams is averaging 12.4 points per game this season.

The Tigers will look to continue their winning streak when they travel to face No. 10 Tennessee on Sunday.
